Clear Lens Indicators

The only real reason to carry out this conversion is to enhance the aesthetics of your motor. We are really aiming for a black / silver / alveston colour scheme with this car, so the upgaded indicators were a must. The side repeaters were a doddle. Cheap to buy and fitted in under 5 minutes.

The front and rear units took a little more investigation. My local dealer initially sold me as you would expect 4 clear lenses and 4 orange bulbs. Total sum €10.00. When I removed the existing units from the car however it transpired that as of 2003 (i think) the lens is actually glued to the black backer plate into which the electrical connector and bulb holder plug in.

Not wanting to destroy the amber lenses on the car to fit the new ones I returned to the dealer to find out if I could order in 4 clear lense indicators with the backer plate already fitted. The response 'negatory'. The only alternative is to order the land rover upgrade pack which includes, lens, backer plate, bulb connector and holder and amber bulb. A full set of which costs €55.00.

We weighed it up and decided that the price was far too high when, as far as we could see, we only needed the clear lense. So we proceeded with what we had and tried as best to preserve the original amber lenses and in the process
saved ourselves €45.00. Some careful prying and Dremel work removed the amber lenses with minimal damage to the lenses and backer plates.

As with all clear lense upgrades this really improves the cohesiveness of the look, especially at the front end.
